YMCA Youth Support

(CareerUP)

CareerUP is a career development programme that helps participants build the mindset, skills, and networks needed to thrive in today’s evolving workforce. Through mentorship, hands-on workshops, and practical career guidance, CareerUP empowers young people to take charge of their career journeys and make confident decisions about their future.

Programmes & Services

LevelUP — Career Readiness Workshops

LevelUP equips participants with essential career skills to navigate the transition from school to the workforce. Through interactive workshops on resume writing, interview preparation, networking, workplace communication, and personal branding, young adults gain the confidence and competencies needed to stand out in today’s job market.

MatchUP — Personalised Mentoring

MatchUP connects participants with industry mentors who provide guidance, insights, and encouragement. Each mentoring relationship is tailored to the participant’s goals, offering real-world advice, exposure to different career paths, and support in building clarity and direction for the future.

TopUP – Financial Empowerment of up to $5,000

TopUP is a financial empowerment component that provides up to $5,000 in support to ease students’ financial burdens and enable them to focus on their growth and future readiness. The funding can be used flexibly to support tuition fees, essential living expenses, or professional development opportunities such as courses, certifications, conference participation, or career-related resources.

BuildUP – Pay It Forward

BuildUP is a Pay-It-Forward component that begins after the 1-year CareerUP programme concludes, where participants give back through a small percentage of their future income once they are employed and financially stable. This approach ensures fairness by aligning contributions with real earning capacity, while creating a sustainable cycle of support—enabling today’s beneficiaries to become tomorrow’s enablers and helping future students access the same opportunities.

What is Pay It Forward?

Pay It Forward is about giving back when you’re able. Instead of repaying support upfront, participants contribute a small portion of their future income once they are working, using their progress and success to create opportunities for the next generation—building a sustainable cycle of support, responsibility, and community impact.
