SINGAPORE, 21 OCTOBER 2025 — More than 60 participants, including youth with special needs, wheelchair users, corporate sponsors, caregivers and public came together on 16 October 2025 for the launch of Find Your Y: Inclusive Challenge YMCA123 × SG60 – It consists of 2 segments, an adaptable HIIT workout and a walk symbolising inclusion, unity and community spirit in celebration of the YMCA of Singapore’s 123rd anniversary and Singapore’s 60th year of independence.

The event saw participants completing a symbolic 16 km route across Singapore’s heritage and cultural landmarks, sketching the letters SG60 through GPS mapping in collaboration with Strava artist Mr Toh Cheng Hock. The walk began at ImPAct @ Hong Lim Green, where Guest-of-Honour Mayor Denise Phua flagged off the event and joined participants from the wheelchair user group for a 3 km route, before culminating at YMCA @ One Orchard.

Together, all groups collectively walked more than 123 km, surpassing the symbolic milestone that marked YMCA’s 123rd year in a shared celebration of inclusion and community.

Empowering Communities, One Step at a Time

To date, the Inclusive Challenge raised a total of $33,981, inclusive of pledges, excludes matched funds in support of the YMCA Community Services Fund (CSF), which enables programmes that empower youth with special needs and youth-at-risk through training, inclusion and community engagement.
For the first time, a High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) segment was introduced as part of the launch to encourage micro-donations and inclusive participation through fitness. Designed specially for the Inclusive Challenge, the activity brought together members of the public, corporate donors, youth and YMCA staff in a shared workout that symbolised inclusion in action. Participants completed four stations using Actxa smart-tech wearables to track performance, earning a chance to win prizes in a lucky draw supported by Actxa.

Beyond the launch, YMCA invites members of the public to continue supporting the cause through fitness-based micro-donations. For every 1 KM you run, rally your network to pledge $20 in support of your effort. For every 500M you row, encourage them to pledge $25, and for every 1 KM you cycle, invite them to pledge $30 towards inclusion. Supporters may create their own sub-campaigns on Giving.sg under YMCA’s Inclusive Challenge and share their fitness journeys to raise funds collectively. The top 10 fundraisers will be recognised at the close of the campaign.

Ms Wu Mei Ling, General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of Singapore, said: “At YMCA, we believe that true inclusion happens when people of all abilities come together to share common experiences. The Inclusive Challenge captures the spirit of our ‘Find Your Y’ movement – standing on equal
ground, moving forward as one community, and celebrating every individual’s ability to make a difference. We are deeply grateful to our partners and participants for walking with us on this journey.”

Partnerships that Move Together

This year’s Challenge was supported by dedicated partners and sponsors who contributed towards an inclusive and impactful experience for participants.

“Brooks Singapore is honoured to support YMCA in this meaningful initiative that promotes fitness and inclusion for all,” said Chua Wee Lee, General Manager, Brooks Running Singapore. “Every step taken together reflects the spirit of community we believe in.”

“It was inspiring to see youths and caregivers walking with purpose and supporting one another,” said Marcus Soo, Chief Executive Officer, Actxa Pte Ltd. “We’re glad that Actxa’s wearables could play a role in their journey, showing how innovation can encourage inclusion and uplift communities.”

“Rajah & Tann is proud to continue our partnership with YMCA in empowering youth and strengthening social bonds within our community,” said Rebecca Chew, Chairperson, Rajah & Tann Foundation.

The event was also supported by imPAct@Hong Lim Green, drawing on the award-winning Fit for All programme that has, made fitness accessible for persons of varying abilities since 2022. Through the collective effort of volunteers and partners, Fit for All champions inclusion and meaningful community ties – values that strongly align with the YMCA’s spirit of care, honesty and responsibility. Their combined dedication made the Inclusive Challenge launch possible, reinforcing a shared commitment to building a more inclusive Singapore.

Beyond the 123KM

Find Your Y: Inclusive Challenge 2025 began with an adaptable HIIT workout designed to drive micro-donations and inclusive participation across all ability levels. The launch was followed by a 123 km collective walk that brought together the public, corporate partners, YMCA staff and youth with special needs in one shared experience – allowing everyone to stand on equal ground and find strength in community. Fundraising efforts are still ongoing through YMCA’s Giving.sg campaign in support of the YMCA Community Services Fund (CSF), which empowers youth with special needs and youth-at-risk through training, inclusion and community engagement programmes. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the campaign link and support this meaningful cause.
