We would like to share that YMCA Mandarin Speaking Awards had been featured on ThumbsUp, Lianhe Zaobao’s school publication.   

The article highlighted two inspiring stories from this year’s competition. One featured the finalist, Poh Siblings, which had competed across the Preschool, Lower Primary and Upper Primary category. Poh Yijing, Poh Yijie and Poh Yiting, had all advanced to the finals and delivered commendable performance. Poh Yijing’s love for the Chinese language and public speaking inspired her younger siblings to take part in the competition, helping them to build confidence and develop his communication skills. Their journey reflects the positive influence and encouragement they share with one another. 

The article also featured Sun Ruo Yan, winner of the Upper Primary Category. She nd had loved to speak on stage. She described the competition as an opportunity to challenge herself and further develop her public speaking skills. 

Through the competition, the participants developed critical thinking skills and strengthened their confidence. We hope that the Mandarin Speaking Awards will continue to serve as a meaningful platform for children to develop critical thinking and effective communication skills, while nurturing the body, mind and spirit in line with YMCA’s mission.
