SINGAPORE, 27 NOVEMBER 2025 — The YMCA of Singapore hosted its annual Find Your Y: Giving Gala at InterContinental Singapore, raising a total of $175,255 in support of the YMCA Community Services Fund (CSF). The funds will enable programmes that empower youth with special needs and young people through training, inclusion and community engagement.
Guest of Honour Mr Lim Boon Heng joined more than 189 guests, donors and partners for an evening celebrating resilience, ability and the transformation of young lives. The Gala theme, Find Your Y – Champion Youth, Celebrate Abilities, highlighted the confidence and potential of youth who took on leading roles as performers and as the evening’s emcee.
Celebrating Ability through the Arts
The evening opened with a high-energy Animal Flow performance by YMCA Y Dance, an inclusive troupe featuring youth with special needs. After dinner commenced, guests enjoyed a series of deeply moving performances, beginning with a duet by musician Sky Shen, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy from a young age, and Claire Teo, a local actor, singer and artist educator who is the first visually impaired person to graduate from a conservatory training programme, followed by solo items from each of them. The programme concluded with a performance by the youth-at-risk band, who shared through their music how far they have come in their personal development journeys.
A highlight of the Gala was the silent auction featuring meaningful creations by youth and artists. Two Sound of Art paintings titled Garden of Joy and Garden of Hope, created in collaboration with Sound of Art and professional artist Glacy Soh alongside by YMCA youth with special needs Benjamin Yap, Mohanraj and Alicia Tan together with Sound of Art artist Glacy Soh, were sold at $4,000 each. A beaded artwork titled Faith, Hope and Love, created by Vince, a skilled beadwork artist who works at YMCA and was part of the pioneer team that attempted the first YMCA Inclusive Challenge at Mount Fuji, was sold at $600. Selected silent auction items remain open for bidding until 28 February 2026, and proceeds will continue to support the YMCA Community Services Fund.
Empowering Youth, Building an Inclusive Community
The Giving Gala supports the YMCA Community Services Fund, which underpins programmes such as the YMCA Vocational and Soft Skills Programme, Y Dance, and Club LITE, giving youth opportunities to build confidence, independence and employability.
