Mark Syn is a Portfolio Manager at MFS Investment Management, a Boston-based fund management firm. He manages the Global Real Estate Fund and is a member of MFS’ Impact Investment Group. A Chartered Financial Analyst, he manages client capital and provides research insights into the global investment landscape.
Mark was previously at Wellington Management for a decade, a Boston-based fund management firm where he led the Asia-Pacific Real Estate practice and managed the Global Real Estate fund. He was a Director of the Wellington Board in Japan and a member of the Management Committee in Singapore. Prior to this, Mark was at Goldman Sachs for nearly a decade where he was a Global Emerging Markets Portfolio Manager. He launched and co-managed Goldman Sachs’ BRIC Fund before transitioning to the Real Estate team where he led Asia-Pacific investments. Mark studied Civil Engineering at Imperial College London where he graduated with a Master of Engineering (MEng) and 1st Class Honours. He is a recipient of the 1996 Bingham Cottrell Prize.
Subsequently, he attended the London Business School as a Lee Foundation Scholar and graduated with an MBA. He served on the board of the Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise (raiSE) and on the Investment and Audit committees. He also served as Chairman of Singapore’s 50th Anniversary Independence Jubilee for Tanjong Pagar and was a member of the Citizens’ Consultative Committee. He is a member of the Investment Committee of YMCA Singapore.
